White Pine on Lynda's Point

Wet-felted with merino wool, silk fibres, and hand-stitching. 

Our province homes over 2,000 lakes. That's a lot of lakeshore! The shallow root system of the white pine allows it to grow in the thin soil covering the bedrock along the shore. But this also makes it susceptible to strong winds. My neighbour's point was cleared many years ago leaving the young pines growing there even more exposed. This one survived, but its tilt tells the story of its struggle.
