The Right Whale for Our Times

Is it time yet? The right time to care, to try to save these gentle giants of the sea?

After years of hunting them for the oil driving them to the brink of extinction, is it finally the right time to save the Right whale?

Time and beyond the right time.

We don’t hunt them anymore, they are still dying, tangled in nets or struck by ships.

Their serene majesty fills me with a sense of peace and calm.

I have tried to capture a small measure of that serenity in my sculpture seen here with some ancient cedar as background.

I hope you can feel the flow of the waters around her.
