Good November afternoon Friends.
As I write this it’s a sleepy, damp kinda’ dreary day. The kind of day when we begin to turn inward and reflect a little bit on the year near past and the season to come. The Month of December to me is the true season of thanksgiving. A time to gather with friends and family and enjoy each other’s company.
At this time I am thinking in my Art Hollis Family of Art makers and how grateful I am to be part of such a diverse, friendly and supportive group. I believe the warmth in our Gallery extends to our patrons and visitors in the welcoming atmosphere we’ve become known for.
I wonder how many of us, when entering the halls of Galleries expect to only view lovely paintings on canvases. We forget there are so many, many forms for Art making.
Here at Art Hollis we are so very happy to celebrate the work of thirteen painters of different and diverse mediums, two unique jewellers, two amazing fibre Artists, two creative Ceramic Artists and last, but not at all least, our very own Fused Glass Diva.
For the month of December we are going to welcome you, Dear Friends, to come and view Lori Nason’s incredible Art form. Lori will be featuring a special treat for you. Her show “Home for the Holidays” in which you will see beautiful, unique glass ornaments. These pieces would make anyone’s home sparkle - and what a wonderful idea for gift giving!
To read about how Lori works in glass you can check out her bio on our webpage. I asked Lori to tell me about her upcoming exhibit. Here is a bit of what she says:
"The Holiday season has always been a big family tradition in my home. A huge part of that tradition is decorating with ornaments and objects that I have lovingly curated over the last forty-five years. My favourite ones are hand crafted by artists…local or from my travels, or those gifted by friends and family here and abroad."
"I hope my handcrafted fused glass ornaments will inspire you to share them with your family and friends! I hope you will enjoy my unique pieces which were inspired by Holiday traditions from my home here in Nova Scotia. From my home to yours…wherever that would be!
See you at my show!"
And I hope to see you there too.
Happy Holiday Season from all of us here at “Art 1274”
