Hello Everyone and Happy Spring!
Up here, in the wilds of Nova Scotia’s North Shore, I am witness as the earth beneath my feet changes from hard, frozen and sometimes covered in fresh clean white to that familiar and wondrous soft, squishy, mucky beige soup that my fur babies track so amazingly artfully through my habitat. Nature at its creative best.

Speaking of nature and its wonders, let’s talk about rocks and what they can offer to the creative imagination. Here at Art Hollis we happen to have our very own Rock Star. Not the musical one… the painterly one.
Rocks…their colour, texture and shape, have always inspired Artists in landscapes and abstract creating. And so we offer work by Nora Gross ..a lover of all things rock. Born and brought up in Saskatchewan but moving early on to the East Coast, Nora fell in love with the Ocean and the rocks along the shoreline.

Nora’s new body of work, an exhibit aptly titled “I Rock”, will be featured from May 1st till June 3rd, with Opening event on May 3rd from 3 till 5pm. Hope to see you there!
May will be a busy month for the Gallery, as we present two live art experiences for the Downtown Art Walk on Saturday, May 10th.
First, come see a beautiful painting being brought to life - from

beginning process to the finished piece by our amazing Bev Hubley, artist extraordinaire. One of our original founding members, Bev demonstrates her incredible gift of light and colour. Watch as she does her magic!
Then we have another special treat in store: Participate in a hands on experience and create your very own one of a kind piece of beaded work. Our Master Jeweller, Jean Hughes, will guide you through making a lovely and decorative multi use key chain holder. You will choose your own beads and learn how to add a clasp and a charm!
Of course this is all free! It’s our way of saying thank you to all our wonderful friends and patrons. Light refreshments are always offered at our events and remember parking on Saturday is free at the Emera parking lot just across the street at the corner of Morris and Lower Water Street.
Can’t wait to see you at the Gallery!
