Hello Friends and Art Hollis Family,
It’s the sweet, heady month of June. The month garden centres become like bee hives, green thumbs like bumblebees tweaking the new blooms; the drone of folks coming and going, arms laden with the promise of healthy growing things to fill patio pots, hanging baskets, raised beds and tilled garden plots. Ahhhh, the aroma of freshly tilled earth. Wonderful!

Summer brings so much busyness and here at Art 1274 things are simply humming.
At present we are honoured to have a past member return to share an exhibition of her beautiful paper medium paintings. Rhonda Barrett’s show Feathers & Flowers is gracing our walls at the moment. Her show will run till June 30th. This work is so interesting. Rhonda creates her stunning pieces from scraps of coloured paper. Her talent in choosing just the right pieces make this work lively and so appealing. You will want to check it out soon!

A day later, our very own Sherry Santarpia is staging something pretty special. Sherry works her magic in amazing colour. Her medium is acrylic and Sherry’s newest body of work entitled “On the Water” will be hung July 1st and will be featured until August 4th. The grand opening will take place Wednesday July 8th from 6.00 till 8.00 pm. This work celebrates Nova Scotia’s close connection to the waters that surround us. I might also announce Sherry is the new President of Art 1274 Hollis. What a great introduction to the new Captain of the ship! Come down and meet Sherry and witness her incredible talent.

We have more surprises in store for you down at the Gallery. Another jeweller has joined the crew. Her name is Lara Sturzenbaum. You have to see for yourself what this young Metalsmith Artist can do with a variety of metals. Her Pasta inspired work is fascinating…Yes! that's what I said.

See this beautiful unique form of jewelry for yourself. I dare you to try something on!
So you see? The hive is buzzing!
You better come down…why not bring your Honey?!
