Coastal Erosion and severe storm events have had significant impacts on residential, commercial and government infrastructure.  Government and environmental services are mapping out projects that seek to understand how the wide variety of coastal environments respond to severe storm events and long-term erosion.

Various methods are being used to stabilize shorelines and erosion such as planting vegetation along bare shorelines, diverting surface runoff and building seawalls.
