Nova Scotia highways and country roads are a joy to travel in late May and June when the variety of Lupins are in bloom. The dried seed heads snap open and spread seeds far and wide.  Birds eat them and spread them.  I have picked seeds for years and try to seed them on the edges of newly built highways. I sent seeds years ago to family in Saskatchewan and unfortunately the soil and weather would not work for that flower.
