Meet & Eat (8" x 10")

"Meet & Eat" was inspired by Colleen's fascination and affection for shorebirds; these charming plovers hold a special place in her heart. Plovers are on the endangered list, and through this painting, she aims to draw attention not only to their captivating presence but also to the importance of their protection.

The scene captures a tender moment between two plovers — one older, likely a parent — and a younger bird sharing a bite to eat. This interaction conveys a sense of charm, awareness, and the vital need for protection.

The setting is deeply influenced by the coastal environment of Nova Scotia, specifically the beaches of Clam Harbour, where Colleen has witnessed these little plovers roaming along the shoreline.

She hopes viewers come away informed about the endangered status of plovers and motivated to act with caution and respect when visiting their habitats.
