Sapphire Serenade    

16" x 24" plus edging 

 Wet-felted merino, silk, and synthetic fibres. Up-cycled fabrics. Needle felted and hand-stitched embellishments. Hand-picked Nova Scotia driftwood.

I love starting with a wet-felted background and letting the fibres lead the way to the final composition. Here, the flowing brook begged to continue off the page so I was delighted to find just the right up-cycled fabrics in my stash to continue the melody.  

Our Annapolis Valley is full of streams meandering in and out of meadows and tumbling down hillsides and was my inspiration for this one. Many happy years were spent there where our young son raced his "boats" of sticks dropped in our hillside stream in spring.
