Smells Like Fall captures that particular stillness of an autumn morning — the air heavy with damp earth, the treeline rich with the last deep greens and russets before the season turns. Gillian Lazanik works her signature layering of acrylic, oil, and steeped black and green teas into the canvas, building a surface that feels almost organic, as though the landscape itself has seeped into the fabric of the work. The pale, luminous foreground opens like still water or low-lying fog, drawing the eye gently toward the dense, textured edge of the woods.
