Tres Noir

This portrait is based on a photograph I took of Tres Noir in a drag performance at Menz and Mollyz on Gottingen Street in 2015. On going back through my images, I found that the ones I took there are the best to work from, since it was an intimate space and it was easy to take good photographs. Sadly that space is no longer available, although with the lifting of covid restrictions drag performances are takin place in other venues in HRM. I remember that this performer could really move – I cannot reproduce that in a painting, but I hope I show some of her attitude!. She is now teaching tumbling and cheer leading classes in British Columbia.
